Over the past several weeks, I've shared progress photos of my latest quilt project. This will be my entry for a guild challenge at the end of this month, and today I can share my completed quilt top.
56" x 56"
The East Cobb Quilt Guild of Marietta, GA celebrated their 40th (Ruby) Anniversary in 2022. In honor of the event, their annual quilt challenge theme is "Ruby, Ruby." The challenge rules are to use at least 40 square inches (5" x 8") of a ruby red fabric and the quilt must also include exactly 40 of something: 40 blocks, 40 flying geese, 40 different fabrics, etc. I decided to use 40 different red fabrics in my quilt top.
Check out the fabric at the very center of this photo--tiny little sewing machines! (The photo should enlarge if you click on it.)
The pattern that I made is one that I call Ring Around the Stars, and I have made a few different versions of it over the years. I'm trying to come up with a clever name for this quilt that combines Ruby with that pattern name, but haven't come up with a winner yet.
My One Monthly Goal for January is to finish this quilt. The top and the back are both prepped, and I have been testing out some possible quilting designs. Now I need to get it layered and start the quilting. I just looked up the challenge info on the guild website and discovered that we have to submit a photo of our challenge entry four days before the guild meeting. It's time for me to get moving!
