Hexie Party and Design Wall

Since last August, I have been stitching hexies in the monthly color for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge. This month's color is purple. I have all my hexies basted and laid out, ready to stitch together, plus a pile of extras off to the side. They will be saved for some future project.

I have been playing with how I want to put these together in EQ7. Here is the current configuration. The areas with the grey pindot will actually be more hexies in a variety of black on white prints. Now that I see it up on the wall, I'm kind of liking them against the grey too.

I am linking up to Slow Stitching Sunday at Kathy's Quilts and to the In Hand EPP Link Party at splish splash stash. Check out both for lots of great EPP and hand stitched projects. On Monday I will link up with Design Wall Monday at Patchwork Times and to the Monday Morning Star Count at Life Under Quilts.

In the Pink

This has been a great month for playing with my pink scraps! That is the assigned color for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge this month. I started out making lots of bowtie blocks in pinks (plus yellows, aquas, and a few lavendars.) You can see my bowtie quilt top here.

I have also been stitching pink hexies, and I am getting close to having both a star and a snowflake assembled.

We had another "snow day" this week which gave me time to make some pink Lemoyne stars. These will join the blue LeMoyne stars from last month.

Check out the Rainbow Scrap Challenge posts every Saturday to see how others are using up their scraps. So many beautiful projects! I am also linking up to the Hexie Weekend at A Quilting Reader's Garden, and I just made it in time for the In Hand EPP Link Party at splish splash stash.

Blues for January Week 2--1/11/14

There hasn't been much progress on most of my quilting projects this week because machine stitching time has been in short supply. We have been putting in long hours at work and even have to go in today (Saturday.)

However, I have managed to move ahead on my blue hexies. I got them all basted last Monday night during the BCS Championship Game, a real nail-biter won in the last minute or so by my husband's beloved Florida State Seminoles. Yeah, Noles!! I've started joining the hexies together into columns for a star and will have plenty left for a couple of snowflakes.

On Sunday I will link up for Slow Sunday Stitching at Kathy's Quilts.

Hexie Snowflake

I finally finished the last brown hexie snowflake today. Brown was the assigned color for November in the Rainbow Scrap Challenge. It's a good thing we weren't assigned a color for December--there's just too much going on to make much progress on any of my projects.

Not a great picture, but not too bad considering it was taken with my phone.

Now I need to figure out a different hexie project to have ready to go. Either I choose my own color and carry it over to next year's challenge, or I could pull out this project that has been hanging around for awhile.

I am linking up to the "In Hand EPP Party" at splish splash stash. You can check out some great English paper pieced projects there. I will also link up to Help for Hexie-aholics at Sarah Did It!

Weekend Scrappiness 11/9/13

I didn't quite finish my black & grey scrap projects for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge before the end of October, but I did get the last hexie star done just a couple days later. The photo is a little dark, but here are all my hexies from October.

I have been basting brown hexies for November. I have almost enough basted to make one hexie star, and plenty of scraps for cutting more brown hexies. I hope to make one star and two snowflakes by the end of the month. There should be some time to work on these tomorrow.

I have also finished up my first three Dancing Stars in brown for November. There are more of these already in the works which should appear in coming weeks.

I am linking up to the Rainbow Scrap Challenge--check it out every Saturday to see many great projects and ideas. I am also linking up to the monthly In Hand EPP Party at splish splash stash and to Slow Stitching Sunday at Kathy's Quilts.
