Making Placemats

There is a quilt guild meeting at the end of the week, and that deadline motivated me to finish off some placemats. The guild donates the placemats to Meals on Wheels.

I ended up with a total of 10 finished placemats. They were all made from fabrics that I've had for a long time, probably close to 20 years. Despite their age, I still love these fruity prints.

All of my placemats were made in matching pairs. These four started with 6.5" x 12.5" centers which were then framed with 3.5" strips. The black background fabric in the borders of the next photo was used to back all four of these placemats.

All four of these are quilted in bright orange thread with meandering in the center panels. The two with darker borders have black straight-line quilting in the borders. The pair with brighter borders got orange wavy line quilting in the borders.

The rest of the placemats were all made with the same pattern. Again, they are made in matching pairs. Each photo shows the front and back of the pair. More fun fruit prints! These all finished at 13.5" x 18" and are quilted in the ditch.
