Design Wall Monday--8/9/2021

When looking for a set of fabrics that I used in a quilt several years ago, I found these four blocks that had been made as samples of the pattern I was considering for the vegetable print fabrics. They didn't turn out as well as I'd hoped, because I didn't like the way the star points blend into the diagonal chain of squares. They have been stashed away ever since, but I'm thinking about giving them another chance.

I started out with the red and orange fabrics coming together at the center, then flipped the blocks around to put the greens at the center. The second version is my favorite of the two.

These blocks measure 13" each unfinished. I'm not sure if I will do anything with them, but it's fun to pull them out again. I still have more of all the same fabrics.

Here is the original quilt I made with the vegetable fabrics. It was started in 2003, but not finished until 2011.

  1. Wow. Your blocks are always so intricate ! Very nice.

  2. I love the top two designs and it's amazing that they're food fabrics. I hope you make them.

  3. Very fun blocks! Either layout works really well. If you don't make a full quilt, they would make a fun addition to a quilt back.
