Great Greens

Despite a long, tiring week at work, I have been making some progress on my projects for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge. Our colors for November are light and bright greens. I have finished 30 bowtie blocks and eight more appliqued circles.

It is very exciting to be nearing completion of all my circle blocks, but I am also sad at the thought that I have only two more circles left to applique. I will be rather lost without this delightful project to work on during my train commute. I have started exploring some options for a new hand-stitching project for next year's rainbow challenge.

For anyone else considering making their own circle blocks, I just discovered that Audrey at Quilty Folk is hosting Quilty 365 where she will be making an appliqued circle block every day for a year. Wow, that's a lot of circles! It will be fun to follow her progress.

Be sure to check out all of the wonderful scrappy projects at the Rainbow Scrap Challenge every Saturday and at Oh Scrap! over at Quilting is more fun than Housework on Sunday.

  3. Lots of bright and beautiful greens in your blocks. I'm sad about my RSC project coming to an end. Some projects are just so enjoyable that it's hard to say goodbye. Hope you find a fun project for next year.

  4. No more circles, that is sad. I am sure that you will find something inspirational though for the new year. 365 circles, I can only imagine how big that quilt would be!

  5. I am looking forward to seeing how you put the circles together. I do love the way the bow ties and circles work together. Perhaps you're not finished with circles at all. A new quilt design is calling 8-)

  6. I am seriously thinking about the 365 circle project (mine will be machine appliquéd given my temperamental thumb joint). I will miss YOUR circles - but look forward to seeing them become a quilt top. (ditto with the bow ties).

Audrey's 365 Circles is really tempting, isn't it? I'm toppling...

  10. You have used such a beautiful collection of greens, and in my view the combination of blocks is wonderful too. I hope you find an equally inspiring commute project for next year.

  12. I saw that 365 link... I'm debating but have too many other appliqué projects in the works right now. Maybe next year I'll join in. So sad to see your circles ending.....but fun to come up with a new hand project for your travels.

  18. Amazing how much you managed to do after a "long, tiring week at work". I think I'd be too tired! Pretty greens amongst that pile.
