Seeing Stars QAL--Week 5

This week's assignment for the Seeing Stars QAL by Melissa Corey at Happy Quilting was to make 8" Basic Stars (aka Sawtooth Stars.) For the first time, the number of stars I needed to make for my smaller version of the quilt was the same as Melissa's version. Here are my 11 Basic Stars in their Christmasy goodness!

Wednesday is the day that Melissa will post the instructions for our last set of blocks, the Applique Stars. They will be 4" finished blocks, and we are making lots of them to fill in the gaps on our quilts. I sure hope we get a little extra time on those--I don't think I can get 20 done in a week unless Melissa has some really fast tricks up her sleeve!

I'm linking up to Design Wall Monday at Small Quilts and Doll Quilts, Monday Making at Love Laugh Quilt, and Moving It Forward at Em's Scrapbag.  I'm also sharing my blocks with the Seeing Stars QAL link-up. Be sure to check out all of the wonderful projects that everyone is sharing!

  3. They look wonderful!!! Way to get them all sewn up ;) And we are machine appliqueing so that speeds things up a whole lot ;) Or if you want, you can still do hand applique, and you will have extra time as the next step is putting your quilt together and you have 3 weeks for that ;)

  4. Oh yes, those stars look great. The smarter part of me said there is no way I can start a new quilt right now. But I sure enjoy seeing the one you are working on.

  6. Your starts look great. Whatever the little ones look like, this is going to be a great looking project.

  7. You've got some beautiful stars there. Twenty blocks in a week would be a bunch. Hopefully it's not that many or you get more time.

  8. Very pretty! Well I don't know how fast they sew up, but cutting for that many blocks is likely time consuming! It's always the prep that takes the longest.

  9. I am so looking forward to seeing all of your Christmas stars come together in the finished quilt! Those beautiful metallic accented fabrics remind me of Christmas gift wrapping paper. :-)
