Mystery Monday (on Sunday) 12/4/17

It's not Monday yet, but Bonnie has posted the link-up for her 2017 mystery "On Ringo Lake" a day early due to her teaching/travel schedule. We got the directions for Part 2 on Friday, making lots of flying geese units. I have around 60 done, plus plenty more still to make.

My color scheme is a complete change from Bonnie's. She used turquoise/aqua (my reds), dark brown (my blacks) and coral/melon where I have the greys. Just as I feared, my range of greys may have spread a bit too far. Some are almost as dark as the blacks at the centers of the nine-patches. Others are so light, they practically disappear into the black-on-white backgrounds. I will have to try to stick closer to the medium greys.

I'm joining the link-up for the On Ringo Lake mystery over at Bonnie's Quiltville blog. I'm also linking up to Oh Scrap! at Quilting is more fun than Housework, Design Wall Monday at Small Quilts and Doll Quilts, Monday Making at Love Laugh Quilt, and Moving It Forward at Em's Scrapbag. Check out all of them for tons of amazing quilting inspiration!

  1. Oh, wow!!! VERY cool guess on what Bonnie could have up her sleeve with the units we've made thus far! LOVE your color combo, too.

  5. I think your grays look great. I have trouble with the light neutrals Bonnie calls for. How much pattern is enough? I wimp out and go for really subtle contrast only to discover that I could have been bolder.

  7. Continuing to love your palate choices. I grew up with these colors in high school and still find them to be a classic.

  9. Not only is your alternate color scheme great but I already like the way you've laid these out! Hmmm, could an alternate design layout be in the works too?!?

  15. Love the red, black and gray color scheme. Since the grays are not right next to the centers, the range in the grays is fine. If we have pieces where they are right next to each other, you may have to be more selective. Looking good!

  17. I love looking at alternate color schemes to see how other people are thinking. This time around though the colors are too pretty together for me to want to change them. Does this mean I should make a 2nd quilt, hmmm.
