Choice #1--groups of 4 (showing 6 x 8 blocks, would be 8 x 10)
Choice #3--this one might require more blocks. It would end up 9 x 9 blocks, finishing at 67.5" square, a rather awkward size. Another option would be to use the number of blocks shown here (6 x 6) and make two baby quilts at 45" square.
I'm having a hard time deciding which option I prefer. Let me know what you think--your comments are always helpful and very much appreciated!

ReplyDeleteHmmm. I kind of like the columns, but have you thought about diagonal rows? They would still be sewn in straight rows, but the color would go diagonally across the quilt. Your blocks look great!

ReplyDeleteThe layout part of rainbow quilts is always the most challenging for me! I think I like option #1 that you are showing, but like Mari's diagonal idea too! Your blocks are so pretty!

ReplyDeleteLike you, I'm struggling with a layout for my stars. I've even considered a totally random layout (naaaahhh...) or colorwash in rainbow order. My problem is that I have differing numbers of each color, based on my scraps. May have to make more blocks to complete a particular color pattern. Decisions, decisions.... but yours are looking great!
ReplyDeletePretty pattern and so many options to choose from! I'm no help... I would make some in purple and red and pink them scratter them all around for a scrappy look =) See, no help from me!

ReplyDeleteI'm not going to be much help. I like both option 2 and 3. Is there no way to (or do you not want to) make a rainbow diagonally across the quilt?
