The design wall is empty at the moment, but there is something to see on the "design deck." The Storm at Sea quilt top is done!!!
My husband had a friend visiting the other day, so I got the two of them to hold it up over the side of the deck. The top is too big (87" x 96") to hang up anywhere inside the house. There are also photos of it on the bed in my last two posts here and here.

I am so happy to have completed this quilt top after such a long time (started in 2001). The only bad news is that the fabric for the back is not as big as I thought. It is one of those super wide fabrics, but it is about a foot shorter than it needs to be. I will have to fix that before I take this to my long-armer in June. I can't wait to get this finished and on the bed!

You have every right to be proud of this, it is BEAUTIFUL.
ReplyDeleteThat is truly beautiful. Storm at Sea is on my list and seeing yours makes me want it all the more. Is it a controlled scrappy, or did you plan all of the different blues and greens? It is wonderfully balanced.
ReplyDeleteWow, beautiful! Congrats on a terrific finish!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! Amazing quilt!
ReplyDeleteIt is gorgeous indeed! Congratulations on your many happy hours of piecing on this nearly at an end :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on a beautiful quilt top being done! Just love it and it looks neat hung over the deck!
ReplyDeleteAwesome. It was worth the wait to see this in all its glory. This is a pattern I have on my to do list. I really like the border you used.
ReplyDeleteWow! That is an awesome quilt. I'm sure that border design was a lot of work, but it takes the quilt from good to spectacular. If I ever make Storm at Sea, I think mine will be a bit smaller and simpler.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!!! Congratulations, you have made an amazing quilt. I absolutely adore it. I've done one storm at sea block and took me a whole afternoon.
ReplyDeleteSooooo beautiful. It's wonderful to see it complete. This one is on my bucket list!
