2026 has turned into my best year ever for finishing quilts, with a total of 10 quilts completed before the half-way point of the year. The most recent finish is my Scraptastic Stars quilt.
The blocks for this quilt were made as part of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge back in 2018. The Scraptastic Stars pattern was designed by Melissa Corry of Happy Quilting. The blocks in my quilt finish at 12". I also made a second set of blocks which finish at 16" each, but they haven't been joined together yet.

I've been making a dedicated effort to finish some of the many quilt tops from that closet, and the fact that this quilt was already layered and the quilting started helped it jump to the top of the list for finishing.
The quilting is all straight lines, a combination of stitch-in-the-ditch and diagonal lines around the stars. I switched thread color for the quilting within each block, probably an unnecessary step, but I like the way it turned out.

Sometimes simple straight line quilting is all that is needed. Congratulations on finishing an old UFO.

Every time I see this pattern I get excited and want to start it right away. I'll put it in line for later this year.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on a very fun finish! The quilting does get easier, but figuring out how to quilt something doesn't seem to.
ReplyDeleteI’ve had this one on my to-do list for a long time. Thanks for reminding me! It is so cute!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the 10 quilts finished you are definitely on a quilt roll. I absolutely love the scraptastic stars. I need to go look up that pattern!
ReplyDeleteWow! Your star quilt is so beautiful. I love that star block.
ReplyDeleteI love it! I made on of these for RSC last year. I love that pattern & it was in my to-do pile for years. Love it.
ReplyDeleteGreat quilt, Julie. I love the scrappy stars and you have a perfect name for it! I love an Irish chain quilt and stars and this has both. This is a great block for RSC. I may have to try that next year! Congratulations on ten finishes this year!! Thanks for sharing with us at Monday Musings.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful quilt, and I love the way you quilted it! That pattern is one of my favorites.
