It has been more than three months since the last update on my Jane Stickle Sampler blocks. I've been prepping applique parts for another trip, and I realized that the most recent blocks hadn't been shared.
The twenty blocks in this photo were all made since the middle of July.
Top row: B1, E5, E2, E8, J12
2nd row: E10, C5, E12, E6, C11
3rd row: C6, F2, B9, G4, E7
4th row: L13, F12, D3, E1, G9
It was time once again to put all the blocks up on the design wall together. The current number of finished blocks is 72, out of the 169 blocks needed for the center of the quilt. It has taken me about seven months to make the blocks, averaging almost 2.5 blocks per week. The photo below shows the blocks in the same placement as the original quilt.
I wanted to get a better look at how the colors were working together, so I moved some of the blocks to fill in as many empty spots as possible in the upper part of the layout but keeping the colors in the right places. I'm happy with the placement of the different colors. There are six different colors of Grunge (plus the background.)

Dear Jane: incredible progress. Love your colors. They are such little blocks with such a variety of techniques and piece sizes. I have not worked on mine in some time and I am stuck at 13 blocks.
ReplyDeleteLovely progress! I just love all those little blocks! I made it a bit over half-way through the Farmer's Wife blocks but had to set them aside for more pressing quilts/matters. Here it is about 6 or so years later... But I think of it all the time. (Another one for the 2026 list but I think it'll be a good year for it.)
ReplyDeleteI'd say you're making great progress! The colors you've chosen work so well together. This is going to be such a lovely quilt when you're done. Thanks for sharing on my weekly show and tell, Wednesday Wait Loss.

😍 Wow!
ReplyDeleteWonderful progress. I like the contrast of those bold blues against the softer washed-out greens & light blue.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely wonderful progress. . WOW! What stunning blocks. I love your color way!--TerryK@OnGoingProjects
ReplyDeleteThose blocks look great. I love the colors.
ReplyDeleteGreat progress! The Dear Jane quilts are such an enormous amount of work, but such beautiful quilts when done.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you are pleased with your colors. Our guild made a Dear Jane raffle quilt out of batiks and I made about 5 of the appliqué blocks. It cured me from wanting to take on one of my own but every time I see one, I think how stunning they are.
ReplyDeleteGreat progress on your Dear Jane quilt. Those little blocks are tooooo little for me! LOL Thanks for sharing with us at Monday Musings.
ReplyDeleteOoh, ahh to any Dear Jane work! Love the colors you are doing this up in. And in Grunge? My, oh my!! I know it seems like a "forever" project but given the intricacies of these blocks, you are really making great progress!
ReplyDeletethose are very complicated blocks - love your update!!!
