Sunday Stash and Stitching 8/23/2026

There wasn't much change to the stash numbers this week, although I did use 3/4 yard for the border of my 30's Kaleidoscope quilt top. The fabrics used in the blocks of that quilt were counted in 2021 when the blocks were made.

Sunday Stash and Stitching Time 8/16/2026

My Stash Report for the past week shows almost 2 yards of fabric used, which was the backing and binding for my recently finished Rail Fence Stairsteps quilt.

Rail Fence Stairsteps, 38.5" x 46.5"

No new fabric was added to the stash, although I did try. I'm in the process of planning a quilt for a guild challenge, and I don't have the right colors in my stash. I visited one local quilt shop, but they didn't have what I wanted either. The search continues...

Sunday Stash and Stitching 8/9/2026

It was a fairly typical week in my sewing room, with progress being made on multiple different projects. That included adding the binding to a guild community service quilt, making the pieced sections for the April and May blocks of my 2026 Temperature Quilt, and trying to figure out a plan for a challenge quilt.

The only change to my stash numbers was thanks to the completion of my recent placemats project. I finished off three sets of placemats, most of them made from orphan blocks and other leftovers from older quilts, using 3.625 yards from the stash.

This last set of placemats was made from a panel and additional fabric from our guild's community service stash. It didn't change my stash totals at all, but they did get finished this week along with the rest. All of the placemats will be donated to Meals on Wheels.

Kate's 15 Minutes to Stitch Challenge at Life in Pieces has us tracking how many days each week we get in at least 15 minutes of quilting time. As stated at the top of the post, I've been working on several different projects, and I definitely spent more than 15 minutes quilting every day this week.

Sunday Stash and Stitching 8/2/2026

I started to put together my stash report post a week ago, but an early morning appointment to donate blood at the Red Cross kept me from finishing it, and I just never got back to it that day. Because of that, today's report covers the last two weeks.

I've been working on several different projects during that time, but I haven't done so well at taking photos and writing blog posts for some of them. The usage I can report is 3.25 yards for a set of 12 placemats that used blocks made as part of a Super Bowl Mystery in 2021.

The placemats were backed with this cute print from Piece O' Cake, with a date of 2001 on the selvage. Time to use that up!

I've been making some progress on my 2026 Temperature Quilt, and I was starting to worry about running out of some colors. That meant another fabric order, with 6 yards total added to the stash. These fabrics are all from the Glaze and Glaze 2 lines by Libs Elliott for Andover.

I've had a hard time staying focused on any of my quilting projects lately, but I did finish one small quilt (photos/blog post coming soon,) plus I've been working on all of those placemats.

Sunday Stash and Stitching 7/19/2026

I didn't expect to add any new fabric to the stash this week, but plans changed when I won the guild's monthly drawing. The prize included this beautiful batik jelly roll plus a coordinating 3-yard piece. I have many ideas on how I might use these beauties! 5.75 yards added, and no usage to report for the week.

Sunday Stash & Stitching 7/12/2026

My stash totals for the year moved a little closer to even with the completion of the Rainbow Rail Fence Zigzag quilt. I used 1.5 yards for the backing and binding of this quilt. The fabric used in the top was all counted in earlier stash reports.

Sunday Stash & Stitching 7/5/2026

Last week's large donation of fabrics to the quilt guild brought my stash changes for the year close to even, and this week the numbers moved closer still. No new fabric was added this week, and I used 2.25 yards for my Patriotic Table Runner. I've got my fingers crossed that I can get that yearly total back to even very soon.

Sunday Stash & Stitching 6/28/2026

The additions to my fabric stash earlier this month have left me wondering where it's all going to get stored since my fabric shelves are already close to full. It was time to clear out some older fabrics to make room for the new. Looking at this photo really lets me know that I wasn't in the mood for dark prints that day. These fabrics were all donated to the quilt guild's Community Service committee, 35.5 yards total (which is one yard more than what I bought at the other guild's recent fabric sale.)

Along with that donation, my outgoing number for the week also includes 7/8 yard for the bindings on my two latest finishes, the Chandelier quilt and Scraptastic Stars. No new fabric was added this week.

Sunday Stash & Stitching 6/21/2026

My stash report shows some significant usage this week, but there was also an unexpected addition. The usage included 7 yards total for "Riding the Waves" (aka Blue Onion quilt) plus the four placemats made from the extra Blue Onion blocks. You can read more about this quilt HERE.

The other out-going fabric was a half-yard bundle, 6.5 yards out, that I donated for our guild's monthly drawing. That stash reduction was wiped out when I won a fat quarter bundle at the same guild meeting for 6.75 yards added.

Sunday Stash and Stitching 6/14/2026

This week's edition of the Sunday Stash Report could also be titled True Confessions, thanks to a fabric sale held by our quilt guild. The guild received an enormous fabric donation from a quilter's estate several months ago. A large amount of the donated fabric went to the guild's community service projects, but there was still a great deal more, and it became a fundraiser for the guild. The fabric was being sold for only $4 a yard. These photos will give an idea of the huge selection.

I bought a total of 34.5 yards of fabric at the sale. A few were 1-yard pieces, but most were 2-4 yard lengths. I'm trying to concentrate on getting backings and finishing more quilts. No fabric usage to report this week.

Sunday Stash and Stitching 6/7/2026

It has been a very busy week, most of it focused on the just-concluded Georgia Celebrates Quilts show. I'm working on a separate post about the show, but I will admit here that my entries did very well. Anyway, the week included dropping off quilts one day, helping hang quilts another day, visiting the full show the next day, then picking up my quilts at the end of the week.

Along with all the show activity, I worked on a new tablerunner, plus finished my Blue Onion quilt. I made 24 Blue Onion blocks, but used only 20 of them in the quilt. These are the four extra blocks.

I'll count the fabric used for this quilt when I get some photos of the finish. No new fabric was added to the stash this week.

Sunday Stash and Stitching 5/31/2026

The main focus for my quilting time over the last week has been finishing the final details on the quilts that I have entered in the Georgia Celebrates Quilts show. Today is the deadline for quilt delivery, and I am very relieved to have the bindings, hanging sleeves, and labels on my three entries done in time.

The most recent finish of the quilt show entries was my Rainbow Stairsteps quilt, which was started as a project for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge in 2019. I used 5.5 yards for the backing, binding and hanging sleeve on this quilt, and no new fabric was added to the stash this week.
