The white solid fabric I'd ordered for one of my Rainbow Scrap Challenge projects finally arrived this week, and I didn't waste any time getting started making blocks. Our color for January is pink, so I pulled out all of my pink 30's fabrics to make kaleidoscope blocks.
None of the colors I've tried so far are jumping out at me saying "I'm the one! Pick me!" I'm still undecided which way to go and will revisit these options after I've made blocks in more colors.
I am linking up with the Rainbow Scrap Challenge on Saturday and with Oh Scrap! at Quilting is more fun than Housework on Sunday. I hope you are all staying well and getting lots of quilting done!

Beautiful kadeidoscope blocks in pink no matter which color you will chose for the triangle corner of half of them. Great work Julie!
ReplyDeleteWhat great blocks. I am really partial to aqua right now, but I like the peach as well. Do all the corners have to be the same? You could transition from light in one corner to darker in another.
ReplyDeleteThese are all beautiful. I like the aqua the best. In looking at the pale yellow or peach photo, I wonder if you could do an ombre, starting with one color and ending with a different one.
ReplyDeletewhat a fun dilemma with a visit to other fabrics
ReplyDeleteI love it when a fabric jumps out and says PICK ME!!! You'll get there. Your blocks lay so nice and flat. I had a problem as a rookie with those blocks. Eventually I got it. You're a pro.
ReplyDeleteI love these - with the aqua you can really see the circle effect coming out - I think of your choices that my first pick, and the medium yellow second - its cool to see the secondary patterns appearing in these colors
ReplyDeleteThose are pretty blocks, and fun to see what you're auditioning for the darker corners. The perfect choice will jump out at you eventually!
ReplyDeleteSweet PINK blocks, Julie! I think you've made a wise choice on delaying the decision concerning the other corner color. I don't envy you the task!
ReplyDeleteLove these blocks in pink. Good luck with your decision on the corners.....
ReplyDeleteThese are such lovely blocks--I really like that minty green--so soft and airy looking...but any one of those colors would look fabulous...hugs, Julierose
ReplyDeleteMmm, certainly a dilemma looking for the perfect fabric. The pink blocks look lovely.
ReplyDeleteOh, I love kaleidoscope blocks/quilts. Now I feel like making another!
ReplyDeleteLove the blocks. They really pop out on the medium yellow and the teal.
ReplyDeleteSo many choices! I think you must wait till you get kaleidoscope blocks in other colors! If they were all going to be pink, then the aqua and the green are my choices....but!
ReplyDeleteLove the blue. Your blocks look amazing together. The prints on the pink fabrics are always full of happy prints. Seeing yours reminded me of some orphan star blocks which needs finishing.
ReplyDeleteI like the aqua, but the gray is an option too. That block is on my bucket list. Not sure I'll ever get that far, but it will be fun to watch your project develop.
ReplyDeleteOoh, I'm so excited that you're making a kaleidoscope quilt, Julie! I'm about to start one of my own, for my son's high school graduation. What size are your blocks, and are you using Accuquilt dies or rotary cutting the pieces? Your pink and white is so fresh and lovely. All of these colors are interesting options for the corner triangles, but if they aren't "singing" to you, why not try something totally different like a gray, or a mix of black and white prints? As for myself, the background fabric that I expected to be a deep, dark blue showed up in my mailbox as a deep, dark PURPLE. :-(. I've been doing some online perusing for alternates but don't want to get stuck with more fabric that is not quite right. Might have to just trek to the not-so-local LQS tomorrow. Also, since I'm planning to use my GO! cutter, I'm nervous about making sure I get enough of whatever I get...
ReplyDeleteI just love the circles you see in the auditioned sets! Whatever color you choose will be amazing.
ReplyDeleteThese are looking so pretty in pink! Love it!
ReplyDeleteIt is hard landing on a solid this early in the block making. But right now I sure like that aqua. Thanks for linking up with Oh Scrap!
ReplyDeleteThe green jumped out for me!
ReplyDeleteI love this. The way circles form in the background is fabulous. This will be a fantastic block to play wih. Have you thought about a gray fabric? I love gray backgrounds and gray blends nicely with so many colors. Just a thought.
