Design Wall Monday 1/25/16

There are some quilters who can cut and stitch quilts fast enough to make your head spin. I will never be one of those quilters. I am much more like the tortoise than the hare--slow and steady. Lately I have been trying harder to keep going on current projects rather than setting them aside for something new. As long as I keep making progress, I am happy. That is certainly better than adding to the UFO collection!

My latest slow-and-steady project has been Allietare, Bonnie Hunter's 2015 mystery quilt. I am not one of those quilters who had their quilt top finished within a day or a week of Bonnie's reveal on New Year's Eve. I made my blocks over the first 10 or so days of January, and I have been getting them all joined together since then. I have the center of the quilt finished and just need to get a border or two on it next.

I will be sharing with the following linky parties.:

  2. I can understand your feelings. My DD#1 is a Jack Rabbit when it comes to piecing tops. I am a turtle like you. It makes me happy but I do suffer from Quilter's ADD. So I have to keep several on-going projects.

  3. Beautiful quilt--I like your colors a lot--when you look up "slow" in the dictionary there's a pix of me lol--I am not a fast quilter either. it just amazes me how quickly some gals can work...and so it goes...the slow way, you get to ENJOY making it for longer....--it is supposed to be FUN, right??hugs, Julierose

  4. Very pretty. Your colors are awesome. I agree...don't let those UFOs pile too high...it can be daunting.

  5. what people don't understand is there is no race... who really cares if someone finishes the most quilts? I have finished lots, and have lots to work on when I'm ready... and oh my word, the ideas for more! LeeAnna

  7. Your Allietare turned out great! I didn't follow along with Bonny's mystery this year, but I am enjoying seeing everyone's quilts.

  9. You've left me in the dust... Though I'm currently using Allietare as a leader/enders project, so it's not going to move very fast.
Seeing how pretty yours is might make me piece a little faster, though!

  11. Slow and steady is great. And, finishing it is a worthy goal. Here's to a year of not adding to our UFOs! I'm trying.
