I finished making a quilt back for the Wonky Stars quilt top that my sister and I made together. We followed the instructions for Alycia's block drive, which you can find HERE. I hope to get a photo of the back tomorrow before I pack it up and send the top and the back to Alycia. Here is the main fabric I used for the back.
This is the kind of print I find very hard to use anywhere other than a quilt back. The largest circles measure almost 7" across. I was so sad to have used it all up on this quilt back that I decided to get some more from Connecting Threads next time it was on sale. When I checked their website on Friday, I discovered that it was already on clearance, and I just managed to get the last of it. Of course, I couldn't resist ordering all sorts of other fabrics that were also on sale. My stash report is going to take a big hit when that order arrives. I'd better keep sewing until then!
TOTALS:
Used this week: 5.0 yards
Used year to date: 146.75 yards
Stashed this week: 0 yards
Stashed year to date: 118.375 yards
Net year to date: 28.375 yards used
GREAT usage this year, Julie!! Your stash can afford to take a bit of a hit! I love that print -- when I first glanced at it, I thought Patchwork of the Crosses block! It would make terrific 'kaleidoscope" fabric!! :)
ReplyDeleteYou've done a good job of using up older stuff this year, so that's still good stash management even if you do end up on the red side of things before the year is out. Connecting Thread sales are dangerous things. I've had to stay away from their site this year. It's way too tempting.
ReplyDeleteI am also a connecting threads fan. Love your backing fabric.. Thanks for the link to Alycia's block drive.
ReplyDeleteI've got some of that same print set aside for a backing, too! I was just thinking yesterday that I should get some more of it - looks like you beat me to it.
ReplyDeleteHmm... I haven't been to Connecting Threads for a few weeks... Sale, you say?
Lovely fabric for a back! Congrats on grabbing it on sale! Have a great week! ~Melanie
ReplyDeleteIt is a perfect fabric for fussy cutting. Glad you could get some more.
ReplyDeleteI'm laughing with you! I put in a pretty big order too. (Of course, 5 yds or more is a big order for me and I know this one is bigger.) But it is hard to pass up $2.50 fabric especially when I know exactly what I want to do with it. Looking forward to seeing what you got!
ReplyDeleteThat is a great backing fabric - I can see why you picked up more!
