I got off to a quicker start than usual on my blocks for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge this month, mostly because I started cutting up my orange scraps in August. I knew we would be using orange in one of the remaining months, and I had some time available to get a head start on it.
There are already 31 Bowtie blocks stitched up, and plenty of orange squares cut for the rest. I was slowed down a bit by running out of pre-cut background squares, so I have been working on cutting up more light squares. Check out the gradation of colors!
I got totally carried away while cutting orange circles for my applique blocks. So far I have three blocks stitched and three more prepped, plus about 15-20 more circles cut out. I will have plenty of hand stitching to do on the train this month.
Be sure to check out all of the wonderful scrappy projects at the Rainbow Scrap Challenge and at Oh Scrap! over at Quilting is more fun than Housework on Sunday. I am also joining the link-up for Scraptastic Tuesday.

What a lovely range of orange bowties. Those orange applique circle blocks are very striking. I always have fun looking at all your different black and white fabrics.
ReplyDeleteThe bounty of your background fabrics is amazing too.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous blocks you have going there--I especially like the bowties...I like that setting...hugs, Julierose
ReplyDeleteQuite nice! I didn't realize how much I enjoyed working with orange until I did the RSC a couple of years ago. Now I make sure to pick up randomly orange fat quarters when I'm out and about.
ReplyDeleteLove the gradient in the oranges!
ReplyDeleteYou've made some beautiful progress.
ReplyDeleteLove your orange blocks. The color gradation in the bow tie blocks looks really cool.
ReplyDeleteI love all your blocks, as always. You have such interesting projects going on! I can't wait to see the circles become a quilt.
ReplyDeleteYou really did get a head start on orange. Great work!
ReplyDeleteI'm amazed by all of the ORANGE goodness at your house AND that someone who loves orange (me!) only has ONE fabric in common with any of your blocks. Go figure!!
ReplyDeleteI love the scrappy neutrals in the bow ties. Cutting early really has given you a jump up on piecing this month.
ReplyDeleteYou got a really smooth orange gradient going, very nice. Those circles are more dramatic than ever with the orange. Good going!
ReplyDeleteLovely orange blocks. The black and orange combination is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteAwesome. Love the color gradation in the bow ties and love the orange on black and white!
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to seeing those circles in a quilt too. Thanks for sharing all those lovely orange blocks with Oh Scrap!
ReplyDeleteI love all your orange projects! It's a colour I find fascinating, though it's quite difficult to find much in the way of orange fabric ime. I have a small stash of orange fabric now and some day it may become the most orangey-est quilt that ever oranged! (And anyone that comes near it will need sunglasses and probably anti-nausea pills, lol!)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful blocks and fabric prints. Love those pops of orange.
ReplyDeleteLovely to see the gradation of color in orange.:)
ReplyDeleteYour bowties and your circles are wonderful. I like the gradation of colors, and oranges (to golds and the other way to reds) are my favorite autumn colors. What size are the circles and what size will the finished blocks be?
ReplyDeleteLove those orange projects - I see that graduation and it looks great! Thanks for joining up with #scraptastictuesday
ReplyDeleteYour use of light to dark is great! I really love the circles on the black and white background!
