The other thing that slowed me down was trying to decide on my color palette. Bonnie's colors are great, but I wanted to come up with my own combination. It wasn't until I came across this piece in my stash that I decided what direction to take.
Some of my colors are going to be the same as Bonnie's. There is a grey print as a constant, and I am also using turquoise and purple in the same places she did. Where she has lime green, I am going to use fuchsia, and instead of black-on-white prints for background, I am going with dark grey and black prints. Here is most of the collection I am working from. (I can see from the photo that there is a paisley print in the black prints that shows up much lighter than the rest. I knew that one might be a problem!)
So far I have made about 100 four-patch blocks, and I am making good progress with my flying geese. Can't wait to see what comes next!
I will be linking up to Patchwork Times for Design Wall Monday and also the Easy Street link-up to see other people's progress.
Julie
this is going to be very rich
ReplyDeleteI love your colors! Nice work
ReplyDeleteThe white-on-black variation is very dramatic!
ReplyDeleteI also thought about going dark, instead of black on white. It looks great! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteLove these color choices! I can't wait to see how it all comes together!
ReplyDeleteIt's great! Beautiful fabric, that fuchsia looks stellar.
ReplyDeletethis will be smashing!
ReplyDeleteWow! I'm already doing Easy Street in two different color ways. But seeing your dark fabrics makes me want to try that, too.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to see your palette. I want to participate but I have none of the colors Bonnie picked. I'm waiting to see some more options.
ReplyDeleteIt is always fun to see how we each do the same thing differently. Your color choices are beautiful and so much darker than mine.
ReplyDeleteit will be beautiful
ReplyDeleteLove your fabrics! The fuchsia is a fantastic choice! Have fun!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely CANNOT wait to see how your quilt turns out! GREAT colors! I chose a patriotic fabric theme as I will be donating to Quilts of Valor.
ReplyDeletePatriotic was the other combo I considered, but I am really liking these together.
DeleteNice! Love the dark BG. Happy Sewing.
ReplyDeleteVery nice colors--deep jewel tones always draw me in!
ReplyDeleteI like the dark background too! It should turn out great!
ReplyDeleteWow, the colours positively sparkle against the dark backgrounds. Great stuff!
ReplyDeleteLove your colours, will be keen to see them in the finished quilt!
ReplyDeleteI was close to using black in my quilt too. Your quilt will be so different from the others - it is already looking great.
ReplyDeleteLove you color choices!
ReplyDeleteShucks - should have waited a bit longer until I saw your colors. I love them!! And I had all of them in my stash too. Oh well, next time.:) Your's will be spectacular. Nice choices.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I didn't rush to decide on my fabrics. I struggled with the choice, but am very happy with it now.
DeleteI like your colors - love to see how all the alternate colors come together!
ReplyDeletewonderful choices. I don't want a new project but they always seem to snag me in too
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely LOVE your fabrics!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove your colors Julie, and the grey as background...I wanted to do that but didn't have enough fabric. Such fun to see others quilts coming along so nicely
ReplyDeleteJulie, I really like your color choices. Can't wait to see it all come together. This is my first Bonnie Challenge and so far I am really enjoying it.
ReplyDeleteHow cool are your colors. I really like it.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE it...sorry but even better than Bonnies. As I have looked at others the thing that is driving me crazy is the busyness of all the black/white prints. Your darker toned ones are patterned but not fighting with the colors. I havent started yet, but now I will!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the inspiration!!
