Scrappy Rainbow Saturday--Week 29, 2020

In between working on other projects, I have been using my Stashbuster Square Dance blocks as leaders and enders. They are such simple blocks, making them perfect for this purpose. So far this month I have made 24 blocks in medium-dark blues and purples.

The pale lavender houndstooth fabric in the block near the center really jumps out at me as being too much lighter than everything else. I like having some variety of lighter to darker tones, but that might be going too far. We'll see how it looks when I get all the different colors on the wall together. It's easy enough to make a replacement for it.

I am linking up with the Rainbow Scrap Challenge on Saturday and with Oh Scrap! at Quilting is more fun than Housework on SundayI hope you are all staying well and getting lots of quilting done!

  8. I love what black does to colors in a quilt. You could always add more lighter blocks to balance out. This is going to be a lovely quilt.

  9. I like the look. Maybe there will be some light patches in the other colors, and they’ll end up being the sparkle.

  10. it a I love your mix of purples and blues, even those light ones that you’re unsure of. I think more quilters err on the side off too much sameness and not enough surprises when we scrutinize throughout the process of making, always removing the first thing that jumps out as being a little different. My favorite quilts in shows and museums have patches of fabrics in them that I probably would have taken out of the mix if it had all been on my own design wall.
