It was down to the wire, but I finished this month's Scraptastic Star block for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge just yesterday. I have been making two of these blocks every month in our assigned color, one block from 2" squares and the other from 2.5" squares.
I have one extra block this month because I had already made two pink blocks last October as a trial run of this pattern. I liked the pattern very much, but I had used the same light fabric for the stars and chains of squares in both blocks. I knew there wouldn't be enough of that fabric for two full sets of blocks, so I have been using different prints in my larger blocks. The large block at lower right will probably be a spare to join my collection of orphan blocks.
Here are the two different sizes up close:
It seemed like a good time to check out the mix of colors together. These are all 16" blocks, including a brown block from last November. I love the way the light squares link together where the blocks meet up.
I am linking up with the Rainbow Scrap Challenge on Saturday and at Oh Scrap! over at Quilting is more fun than Housework on Sunday. Be sure to check out all of the wonderful projects that everyone is sharing!

Love 'em! Have you ever shared your process in assembling the block? All those little squares look daunting, but I bet you have come up with a way to organize your process.
ReplyDeleteI love your star blocks, very beautifully mixed all together. Love that secondary pattern with the lighter fabrics too! You have a great variety of lovely pink scraps.
ReplyDeleteThose are such great star blocks! It's fun to see them up close and get a peek at the scraps you chose.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see how this quilt comes out -- love these star blocks and the circles forming when they are together.
ReplyDeleteYour stars are amazing. This quilt will be beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThese are great blocks! The intersections with the lighter pieces are interesting and make a great secondary pattern. You wouldn't guesss that would happen from just looking at the blocks individually. You could always make a pillow out of your extra large block. Going to be a lovely quilt!
ReplyDeleteSo much fun to see your blocks all come together as a collection. The joining squares make such a nice pattern.
ReplyDeleteYour blocks are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely quilt these blocks will make!!
ReplyDeleteYour Scraptastic Star blocks are beautiful and this collection will be a lovely quilt.

ReplyDeleteOh, what beauties! I keep thinking I should make these with my box of 2.5" squares, and I keep forgetting as other things come up! If you keep posting about them, maybe I'll remember. =)
ReplyDeleteYour star blocks are very bright and colorful. You are going to have several very cute quilts out of this year's blocks.
