Friday night I finished my two blocks using light to medium blues, our January color assignment for the RSC. One of the best things about making these blocks is that I have a bin full of squares that are already cut. I just need to choose the ones I want to use. Here is my smaller block, made from 2" squares. This block will finish at 12".
My larger block, which will finish at 16", is made from 2.5" squares.
The blocks look like the same size in the close-up photos, so here is a shot of the two of them together, showing you the difference in scale.

I am linking up with the Rainbow Scrap Challenge on Saturday and at Oh Scrap! over at Quilting is more fun than Housework on Sunday. Be sure to check out all of the wonderful projects that everyone is sharing!

Pretty blocks and what a great way to reduce the precut scrap stash. For whatever reason, when seeing both blocks together, the smaller one appeals to me more...I'm over here scratching my head at this, but it's true! (But really, they're both great!)
ReplyDeleteBoth block do look the same, but when they go together in a finished quilt, the scale will make more of a difference I think.
ReplyDeleteYour stars turned out great. That is going to make a wonderful quilt.
ReplyDeleteLovely blocks. Good idea to make one in each size.
ReplyDeleteI love these blocks... such a great idea!
ReplyDeleteLove these blocks! The danger of visiting all the links is finding patterns you want to make! Great job and I see some fabrics I have in your blocks. So fun.
ReplyDeleteLovely blocks; it's funny to see the difference half an inch makes to the finish!
ReplyDeleteYou have lots of pretty blue fabrics! They make your star blocks so interesting!
ReplyDeleteYour blocks are so crisp and cheerful! It will be fun having two different sizes going. Lovely scraps, too.
ReplyDeleteOh I Like it!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWell, when you can't decide you've got the right idea...make them both! So will you make two different quilts or combine them all in one quilt?
ReplyDeleteGreat looking Scraptastic Stars! I know the feeling when it comes to deciding between the 2" scraps and the 2.5" scraps. I usually love the look of the smaller squares, but the larger squares use up the scraps faster and the quilt gets finished sooner since the resulting blocks are bigger!
ReplyDeleteWow!! What a difference that half-inch makes! Both are looking good in BLUE for the RSC.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea. As soon as I saw how wonderful your Scraptastic Stars look, I went over to download the pattern. I look forward to seeing how the rest of your blocks will look. I think it will make an amazing quilt.
ReplyDeleteYou are going to inspire me to start some of these blocks. Yours look great. Thanks for sharing with Oh Scrap!
ReplyDeleteA great block for this year's RSC. You've got some great blues in those two blocks.
