The Scrappy Trips blocks have been arranged in a myriad of different ways on the design wall this week. One of my ideas was to make two throw quilts, one with the warm-colored blocks and one with the cools. 20 blocks set 4 x 5 would make a throw quilt that measures 60" x 75". Here are a few arrangements of my warm blocks.
Diagonal bands
Hills and Valleys
Barn Raising
As usual, I am having a very hard time choosing between these. Let me know what you think. You might have noticed that I swapped out one of the purple blocks for brown in the last photo. I'm thinking about making a set of beige and brown blocks to go with the other warm colors and putting the purples with the cool colors instead. Those are going up on the wall next! I am linking up with the Rainbow Scrap Challenge on Saturday and at Oh Scrap! over at Quilting is more fun than Housework on Sunday. Be sure to check out all of the wonderful projects that everyone is sharing!
What a bright and stunning quilt! I personally like the 3rd layout. It really makes your eyes move and gives the overall appearance pizzazz. Great color use in this quilt.
Wow! These blocks come alive when they get together. Awesome. I love Barn Raisin best. I was looking at the colors of the block before I realized there was a pattern to it. That makes it very interesting to me. Good luck with the decision. ;^)
I love the barn raising I think it's going to be stunning. I too am going for 2 quilts using the neutrals, reds, aquas, browns in one and the other colors for the second . I have had so much fun with this this year .hard to believe it's almost over until I see all the blocks sitting waiting .
The rainbow is coming to life, fascinating. I like number one a lot, but three is my favorite because of the luminescence radiating from it. Can't wait to see the cool colors. You go, girl!
It was great to see all the different arrangements you came up with for your warm Scrappy Trips blocks! I can't name a favorite - just go with what YOU like. Would love to see ALL the RSC Scrappy Trips together before you break them down by warm & cool...
Love your color gradations in the blocks! I like the first one best--it seems the most coherent design to me. Having said that, I now read the comments and see I am in a minority. If I did barn raising, I'd group similar colors together. And purple is a cool color in my book. Claire aka knitnkwilt

I really like hills and valleys a lot--though they are all lovely hugs, Julierose

They're all amazing! The light row right by the dark in each block is the best. If I had to pick though? Barn raising.
