I have been collecting music-themed fabrics for some time to make a quilt for my husband the musician, and these are the latest additions. I just counted up the yardage in my bin of music fabrics, and it is right around 30 yards. Time to stop buying and start sewing! The border stripe that you see at the center is especially wonderful.
Batiks are one of my favorite types of fabric, and I am happy to add these to my stash.
My sister and I took a quilting class together back in 2002. I have close to 40 blocks like this one made in different blue and brown prints at the center. Every once in a while I pull them out of the box, put them up on the wall to ponder how to finish the quilt, and then they go back into the box again. Maybe this great striped fabric for the back of the quilt will motivate me to finish it!
As always, we had a great time in Paducah and saw tons of amazing quilts. There are endless sources of inspiration there, and I am eager to get back to my sewing machine.

Great additions to the stash. Some times you just have to. The star block is beautiful, the color scheme is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteBlue and brown works--go for it and get the quilt out of the way. I have several I just "look" at and ponder so when something works, finish it off.
ReplyDeleteYou added some really beautiful fabrics. Sometimes that's all it takes to get motivated to finish those UFOs....or start new projects.
ReplyDeleteHow fun to go to Paducah with your mom and sister. Love the Batiks you bought. Finishing up the 2002 quilt and the music quilt should almost even out your numbers.
ReplyDeleteGoing to the Paducah quilt show is on my bucket list of things I want to do. Beautiful fabrics. I'd love to see what you do with the music fabrics.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see your music quilt. I have no idea how much fabric I ended up with before I finished his music quilt -- and how much I still have left. I'm sure whatever you do it will be beautiful.
ReplyDeletealways love to by new fabric
ReplyDeleteThe music themed fabric looks great!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you were able to go to the show. Aren't music fabrics wonderful? I made a music quilt for my Sweet Teen at her request. (Post is here: http://doraquilts.blogspot.com/2011/07/music-quilt.html ) I'm sure your quilt will be quite different and am looking forward to seeing it!
