I made an altered one earlier this year, I made it into a 100" square. If you divide the quilt into quarters, you'll notice that all the quarters are the same pattern, just mirrored. When I reconfigured mine, I just worked with a quarter, adding blocks to it to make the design expand. It was a lot easier than trying to do the whole thing at once.
