Super Bowl Sunday turned into a good day for chasing a squirrel. Not the animal with a fluffy tail, but a quilting project squirrel. If that term is new to you, here is a great explanation from Quilt Diva Julie’s blog:
The large squares of bright orange where the corners meet up might be a little overwhelming. I decided to try adding sashing between the blocks.
I'm not sure if I will use the sashing or not. I might dig through the stash a little more and see if there is a better green. In the meantime, I'm going to work on finishing the rest of those blocks.
If you are interested in this pattern, it will be up on the Scrapdash website for another week or so. You can also see photos of other people's version of the mystery on THIS PAGE.

Your squirrel post reminds of something. I heard about the quilters squirrel on someone's blog a couple of years ago. I feel exactly like that and I told my 2 sisters about it. Shortly after I told them, the 3 of us were in this quilt shop in Paradise MI in the UP and we were looking around. The owners were watching us like a hawk. Why, I don't know. Anyway, I was talking to one of the owners and out of the corner of my eye I see something totally unrelated to what I was talking about and I just yelled out "Squirrel" and walked over to what had caught my eye and the 3 of us burst out laughing. At this point I'm sure the owners thought we were nuts and were glad they were watching us. Every time I hear squirrel I think about that and start laughing. Fun memories!
ReplyDeleteI love it! If it were me I would snowball the corners of the orange to make another square inside the large orange square. It would make the orange a little less dominant and create a secondary pattern. You could even use two differnt fabrics to make a more interesting secondary design.
ReplyDeleteOh, that stripe is a fabulous center to the blocks. I think the sashing emphasizes that stripe and should stay. Not that you asked. LOL
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun squirrel to chase.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great DrEAMi project! I definitely like the addition of the sashing. We quilters love to chase squirrels don't we? Thank you for linking up!
