Stash Report Sunday 9/30/12

For a change this week, I used up some fabric and didn't buy any.  I made the binding for my Storm at Sea quilt.  That took 3/4 yard.  It is machine stitched to the front of the quilt, and I have started hand stitching the back.  That quilt is just over 30 feet around the outside edge--that's a lot of binding to sew down!  Can't wait to get it done and on my bed.

My other fabric used this week was 1-3/4 yards of Georgia fabric that I made into a pair of pajama shorts for hubby.

Used this week: 2.5

Used year to date: 50 yards
Added this week:   0 yards
Added year to date:  73.5 yards

Net year to date: 23.5 yards added

Design Wall Monday 9/24/12

The hexagon quilt is finished!!

I finished quilting this wallhanging last weekend, then got the binding done a few days ago.  The finished size is about 37" x 39".  Like all projects, it is such a thrill to have it done.  I am very pleased with how it turned out.  Here is a closer shot of the quilting.

Once that was complete, I did a bit of cleaning up in the sewing room.  I also got caught up on the latest Grandmother's Choice blocks.

It's time to continue the clean-up efforts, then try to figure out what the next project will be.

Stash Report Sunday 9/23/12

Some fabric has been used recently, but even more was added to my stash.  The additions were from the Labor Day sale at Hancock's of Paducah.  All were on clearance, plus an extra 20% off!  For some reason, the black & whites were calling out to me.  The fabric on the right is the one that I fussy cut for my hexagon quilt.

The fabrics used this week were 1/2 yard for the binding on my hexagon quilt plus 1/4 yard for the first 3 Grandmother's Choice block-of-the-week blocks.  Photos coming tomorrow.

Used this week: .75

Used year to date: 47.5 yards
Added this week:   7 yards
Added year to date:  73.5 yards

Net year to date: 26 yards added

Design Wall Monday 9/10/12

The hexagon wallhanging is nearing completion.  I finished the top late last week, then got it layered and started quilting over the weekend.  So far, three of the medallions are quilted.  Not sure yet what I am going to do for quilting in the background.

Stash Report Sunday 9/9/12

It looks like I missed my report last week.  That must be because nothing had changed.  This week there is finally something to report for usage (but also some purchases.)

The top for the hexagons wallhanging is finally done.  Photo coming tomorrow.  That used 3.25 yards plus 1.25 yards for the back.  Then there was the 50% off coupon for the quilt shop. That led to the 3.75 yards added to my stash, but one piece got used immediately to back the hexagons.  Hancock's of Paducah had a Labor Day weekend sale, and I placed an order over a week ago but haven't received that fabric yet.  I guess they weren't prepared for the number of orders that came in.

Used this week: 4.5
Used year to date: 46.75 yards
Added this week:   3.75 yards
Added year to date:  66.5 yards
Net year to date: 19.75 yards added
