Design Wall Monday 8/6/12

I finally finished up a project yesterday.  I had this angel panel that I got at Hancock's of Paducah a year or two ago.  I did some free motion quilting on it and added the dark blue binding--nothing fancy or complicated, just wanted to show off the beautiful panel.  My sister-in-law collects angels, and this is a birthday gift for her.

My other recent project is the continuing saga of the hexagons.  I finished up the second medallion with English paper piecing, but realized that there is no way to get five more medallions made, joined together and quilted by mid-September.  I decided to try marking the stitching lines on the back of the hexagons and sewing them together by machine.  It seems to be working okay, and is definitely faster than hand stitching.

  1. I have made some quilts both simple and very complicated over the years. Many times I am finding my grandmothers wisdom abounds, "less is more." Such a beautiful panel and your sister will love it.

Hexies are not in my future. Ever. Yours a very pretty.

  2. I like that angel panel. That was a great idea. I'll have to look for something similar. I might be able to do simple.
